I've never understood or agreed with that, but I also didn't get into guns until my 40s so it wasn't foremost on my mind.

i think thats genius of chipping rights away little by little - people acclimate and forget. after all the accusations of folks not compromising, its not until one starts to point out all the small concessions that have been made over a 100 years just how much has been lost.

I think you are correct; the strange and unexplained difference in age requirements has existed for 50 years.
