What are you drinking?

We were doing a little "under $30" shootout by the firebowl last night.

I had never had the JW Dant, the OGD 114, or the Very Old Barton even though I had all 3 sitting on the shelf for quite a while. I had WT101 before but wanted something to compare.

Last night was a little nippy temperature wise and that may have influenced me towards liking the Old Grand-Dad 114 the best out of that group.

But I'll say this.

If you put a gun to my head and made me choose only one "cheaper" bourbon to be stuck with for the rest of my life, that Old Grand-Dad Bonded you posted would be my choice.

I have 5 unopened bottles now, and I get a little nervous looking at that shelf wishing it was more like 12.

I like it a lot.

(And the other half of that shelf contains 5 and 1/2 bottles of Mellow Corn at $10.55 plus tax per bottle. It is my cheapest shelf but still one of my favorite shelves to pull from.)

Thanks!!! I'll prob grab a bottle tomorrow. The under $30 selection is where I mostly drink from. Dickel is my go to but Evan Williams 1783 and the Evan Williams Bonded are good too. If I spend a little more I like Maker's and Basil Hayden's.

I picked up a 4th bottle of this yesterday.

I miss the 1.75L bottles you could pick up just last year.

The Siler City ABC had 2 of the 1.75 Eagle Rare as of this past Tuesday.

They still pop up here and there but they darn sure don't last as long on the shelf as they used to.

Hard day today trying keep my father's sitters happy. Decided that I need to try my hand at making Manhattans. Started with a bourbon and now a rye. Also need a cigar ( San Rafael).

REPORT: The Manhattans are better with Sazerac than Marker's Mark and the San Rafael by Don Fidel are not the best cigars.

Now with a limited supply of Sazerac I need to find a Rye that is on the self all the time.

Never been a big rye fan myself, but the lot 40 and pikesville are both delicious!

Finished the Elmer... The Sazarac Rye wasn't far behind... Did some damage on the others... There were 5 of us practicing social discourse... I mean distancing...

This would be the place to ask I guess!

I always liked Jim Beam Choice a lot, it was the one that was also Charcoal filtered like Jack Daniels but cheaper. Cheaper is important because I am a bit on a budget these days. Does anybody know any other charcoal filtered Bourbon that does not break the bank?

Trying the stuff on the right, based on a buddy's recommendation. The drain opener on the left is for the missus.

George Dickel is $17.95 a fifth in NC ABC stores.

One or the other...

You know, as close as we live we have never been! Worth a visit?

It's a cute little place. Nice folks. Very knowledgeable. Like all NC wineries, mostly sweeter stuff, but a few really solid reds. The Dread Pirate is my favorite(and I love the reference). It's very jammy. Easy drinking with just about anything...

If I was you I would check their calendar when things get going again. They do some cool music and food festival stuff, and they have inexpensive classes on wine I'd be interested in if we were closer.

Everything ok, old man?
First world problems. ;)
I have a very obsessive personality. Went round and round with college son’s rental property manager, which was interrupted by an active leak in the roof of a lawyer’s rented office (he rents from me), after the oil debacle caused my brain to explode trying to understand negative $37 per barrel.

I was done at that point and just bought lots of beers.

Have an extra one for me... Cheers, friend...

Cool. Thanks. We’ll definitely check it out once things get going again.

Some cheapo Canadian Hunter. I'm so ashamed....

Wanted a complete change and ended up with some Tito's and tonic with a little lime juice. After drinking everything neat or on ice, I stopped. Was getting a headache or feeling the drink. Tomorrow back to the brown liquor.
