General tso chicken with pork fried rice tonight. Had to take my aunt to Dr appointments today and came back through pilot mtn to pick up her prescriptions. And that almost allways means Chinese take-out as well. My aunt gets happy family and I get general tso chicken with pork fried rice and occasionally ill switch it up and go Mongolian beef. 20240411_192937.jpg

That looks like a prison yard from some movie. 😆
IT IS! You see all them kids? THEY RUN THE PRISON!

It's a super cool little area. Used to be a RJR factory, now there are some restaurants and businesses in the building. So I got C-F pizza, when facing the doors, to the left is Incendiary Brewing, so a lot of parents go down, get some pizza, feed the family. Then the kids play on their scooters, bikes, bring balls etc, and the parents get beer and chill out. They often have music on Saturday evenings during the warm months

So a prison yard for non-criminals. Then if thongs go sideways you just add some fencing and barbed wire and voila, you can put baddies in there. Solid plan.

How was the pie?

It's my favorite pizza in Winston. They have a few locations around NC and other states (seen slightly in pic) - I recommend.
They have about 10 types of pizza, only one size.
The interior of the restaurant is very 'family' or 'communal' style - REALLY long tables with matching benches
Rolls of industrial papertowels are on each table, and there's a condiment bar with oregano, parmesean, crushed red pepper, oils etc - get what you want there.
They also make gelato, but I've not had it.

When people come into town and we want a casual meal out - Cugino Forno is where we take them.
A night like last night, or tonight, when the high is in the 80s during the day and dropping to the 60s at night - great nights for hanging out there and relaxing.

Im sure, as a parent, it's a really wonderful place. As a couple only, and doing double dates, we really like the atmosphere, moreso when the local orchestra is performing (last one we saw was them doing classic rock songs)

LASTLY - Im always in support of thongs going sideways, though Ive not seen a thong, in person, in about 4.5 years or so

Burritos - a pack of chicken quarters deboned and chopped into chunks. Marinade in a mixture of garlic, chicken stock, salt, and chipotles in adobo that were blended in the food processor for 30 mins to an hour, cook in the cast iron skillet. Cilantro lime rice is just some jasmine rice, butter, salt, cilantro, and a tablespoon or so of lime juice to taste. Diced red onion, jalapeno, sour cream, cheese, and cilantro lime salsa cremosa.

Man,, some of you folks are living big and making all kinds of fancy foods. I like to keep things simple and this is my favorite.
Some good quality hot dogs, chili/onions with stone ground mustard. Thow some cold baked beans on the plate right out the can and I'm pretty darn happy.

Tonight I did some baked bbq ribs using a new sauce I hadn't tryed before. I usually make my own but occasionally grab something off the shelf if it catches my eye. Sauce was kinders peach bourbon sauce. It was good. Also made some garlic parm mashed taters with some grated sharp cheddar on top.20240421_164951.jpg

I should have gotten a picture. We made lasagna. It was a year in the making. Three months+ with no working oven, followed by 9 months in the travel trailer. Spent almost 2 hours, cooking onions, peppers, mushrooms, sausage, etc, as well as noodles. Mixed Italian seasoning, egg, ricotta, mozzarella cheese mixture, cooking noodles, and putty it all together. It was delicious.
