YOUR LEVER GUN PICS

Just inherited my wife’s grandfather’s Marlin 336 and it is my first lever action rifle! Perks of being the only other deer hunter in the family, getting to shoot it for the first time tomorrow with 40 rounds of Hornady ftx leverevolution and already counting down to October. Will be running this along with my savage axis xp 6.5 creedmor (depending on hunt location) next season. Learning as much as I can about these via youtube and forums like this and appreciate any additional advice ya’ll want to offer,

Cheers!

A couple new additions to the stable.

Newest is my Henry Golden Boy in .357/.38. I really enjoy shooting this! Probably stick to .357. The .38 wasn’t easy to load in the tube. But maybe I just need some practice. I felt the .357 cycled and shot a lot better.

This one is my JM stamped Marlin 1895 in 45/70. Bought it as it is off a forum member maybe last year.

Always looking for the next one…

2 weeks ago I told my gun/pawn shop guy that i was looking for a big boy x in .357 and he said he was going to be having an employee's unfired one coming out of the back room very soon. 2 nights ago i texted my guy and asked what was up, and he said he'd check. Yesterday they were pulling a bunch of guns out of the back room to put on gunbroker and he told his guy to hold off on posting this one... at the same time, another customer was in the store saying he wanted it right then... My guy was good enough to call/text/etc and give me a "you got dibs, but we have people in line, so let me know asap" notice.
So I made a stop after work...

I only got the .357 but left the 45colt

I never get that lucky. That’s the rifle I was looking for.

Nice.

And I see that you subscribe to the "2 is 1, 1 is none" theory for spare tires as well!

Very nice collection… favor to ask as my OCD and fear factor is kicking in… please put a wooden dowel in the barrel of the first gun to prevent it from falling over. They are not my guns but I would die if it fell over and scratched / dinged one of those other beauties. Oh the horror… lol

hahaha. i have the little donut under the full size spare. last time i got my tires replaced i told them to keep the best of the 4 as a second emergency backup. I have 2 full size ones for my wife's car i need to get on rims.
And yes. I have really bad luck with running over nails/bolts/etc.

@Dsking85 is a little ahead of me...
I think i'm gonna learn to make a paracord sling and reload 38/357 with this thing. I am also going to have to order a 5/8x24 adapter for one of my 9mm cans because this is almost certainly going to be shot from the bedroom window. I have manners, so i only shoot suppressed bolt/lever guns from inside the house.

This makes lever #4 for me (#5 really, but i sold one a few years back). I should get them all out one of these days.

Looks that way but not quite haha. Head on frontal shot at about 20 yards. Entered front of chest and bullet recovered between the hide and rear leg.
Shot a doe at 80 yards, looking straight in my direction. Center chest with a Marlin in 35 Remington. Hit the ground hard. Never even flinched.

Does the job but makes one heck of a mess when it comes time for dressing 😅

Same thing with a little buck on opening day, 20 yards, center chest, Browning 1895 in 30-06... Bang-Flop, no flinch, no exit wound, no bullet found. Very little blood on entry wound. Heart was disintegrated, nothing left at all.

Funny thing... that'n had a 22 bullet lodged in his shoulder. Property owner remembered chootin' him when he was in the garden two years earlier!

20 yards with an 06, did it skin it too?

Congrats. Definitely one on my list I want. If was the guy in the store with cash in hand I would have been pissed though lol. Enjoy
