KbK kit from AoA. Pretty dang clean all around - will look even nicer once it's assembled.

So in that kit the barrel and receiver look cut. I assume you are buying a barrel and receiver then assembling the kit from that? (Please forgive me AK noob here)

Correct. It is a milled (AK-47) kit vs. a stamped (AKM) kit, so there is possibility for rewelding the included surplus front and end receiver stubs to a donor center section. Or you can buy a finished American milled receiver like a Tortort.

The Polish barrel is a goner, but will be kept for hoarding's curiosity's sake. In the top of the photo is an American (AK Builder) chrome lined Type 3 barrel that I'll use instead.

It'll be a pricey project, but that's the price we pay for quality, collectibility, and as much authenticity as possible.

Now let's all take a moment to thank God for our AFT and its infinite wisdom in having perfectly good surplus parts destroyed. Our streets are better off

My NPAP, original set up was blonde stock and handguards, and an Eastern Block pattern pistol grip.

Personal changes include a Tapco SAW pistol grip, Magpul Zhukov folding stock & Century lower handguard, Khyber Customs Yugo length cheese grater upper handguard, and an RPK rear sight. The rear sight is due for laser engraving to make it match the Sharpie numbers penciled in as it sits now.
Anyway, it's more accurate than you'd expect.
How do you like that Magpul stock?

Not my picture not my gun.

Bestie took his kp9 to the range today, first shot and this happened. Instead of condolences @Dr. Death is screaming PSA master race in the group chat. 🤣

First shot for him, but who did he buy that gun from? Aquaman? Thing looks rusty as hell.

I was wrong was the second mag apparently. He's the first owner. Awful he already bought a bunch of mess for it. Trigger safety handguards and it breaks 😂

Wait, seriously that's a new gun? Is that rust or some sort of metal lubricant (I mean, it's a KUSA product so anal lube definitely makes sense)? The internals look totally clapped out, but maybe it's just my eyes that suck.

ETA and a new pistol grip, it appears. Shame he went all in on the form before giving the poor thing a function test at the FFL.

Yeah that's a brand new gun, I'm thinking it's piss poor KUSA, you can see machining marks on the back of the bolt carrier. I still have this odd affliction and want one bad because of the folding rear trunion. Patiently waiting what CS does. Reports say KUSA is similar to sig, moody, bipolar and sometimes down right rude.

All for the Kommie rifles

A couple WASRS, a VEPR, and is #3 a Meridian Defense build? Do I have those right? If that is a MD gun, what's your take on it? Worth the somewhat crazy price tag?

Nice family, and they all look well used but much enjoyed ... just like AKs should.

And welcome to CFF!

That is correct! The wasr on the far end was sold to fund a 30-30 lever gun. Number 3 is a meridian defense pestilence. I will say I enjoy shooting it more than my other AKs. Mostly because the kns piston makes the recoil minimal. That said I think you can achieve the functionality of the MD rifle for less. I don’t regret buying it and I would buy it again but im not going to preach that it’s way better or anything. Not pictured are the super clean MAK90 and the saiga I also let go :/

Thank you! I think this place is pretty sweet so far!

You never fail to impress.

Very cool. I do dig the post-apocalyptic look of those MD guns. And those KNS pistons are impressive as hell!

This one was built by Childers and was sold by Atlantic. I have three more kits to build, and they probably all going to TRA one day.

That's one of the finished rifles Atlantic had for sale? Looks great.

I'm in the same boat ... sitting on three kits I still need assembled.

Yup, so Atlantic had Childers guns build for them, I think they did a really nice job. The silver lining was these kit builds actually came with original NK cleaning rods. Not sure how Atlantic got them, and why they didn't come with the kits they sold.

Oh that's awesome! I did not realize that. The repros I purchased on the Files look great, but they're still just that ... repros. Very cool (and kind of greasy at the same time) to know that Atlantic scored some of the original rods.

Finally hooked a bit of a white whale of mine - a numbers-matching, pre-chrome lined Russian Tula SKS. This one likely has an arsenal replaced stock, but at 73 years old it is beautiful nonetheless. Bore and internals are excellent. Period-correct first style sling is en route from Ukraine.

I've been chasing one of these for a reasonable deal for a couple years. Two separate agreed upon sales fell through last second by the sellers. Third time's a charm!
