Texas church shooting

I don't think that matters if the church allows it as it is private property.
From the notes in the VCDL link, it is prohibited by statute but it looks like they turn a blind eye to it unless the building is posted. Don't know if this one was or not.

I have not looked up the Texas law in question, but generally a property owner's wishes are irrelevant if something is prohibited by the state. When it was previously illegal in NC to carry concealed where admission was charged, the property owner could not just say "never mind."
Not exactly fitting. Churches don't charge admission. A private business could allow employees and guest to carry on the premises with the permission of the person in charge of the property even before CCW permits were a thing here.

I haven't seen it written, but on Fox News, a guy said that this church has a tradition of checking their guns at the door when they walk in. I'm not sure if this means they actually give them to somebody to hold or whether they leave them in the car, I don't know. My guess is that they were left in the car.

A lot of the comments are about the brand of rifle the good guy used. When it comes out there probably be a run on them. It'd be cool if it was something like a 30-30.

My "insider" info from a cop that spoke to a Texas DPS guy says the good guy also had an AR. Whether that's true or not, IDK. That's probably why we are not hearing about what type of rifle he had.

If it is an AR then we will never hear it on the media outlets.

The press confrence a little bit ago they said that the good guy used his own ar.

Yep, even saw it on cnn can ya believe that. They unterviewed the civilians cousin and he told the whole story including it was an AR +1 for the good guys. He also said the guy evaluated that he had body armor on and shot for the sides. All while barefoot and moving towards the shooter

The cynic in me thinks I don't remember hearing that he had more than one weapon. In which case it is likely that someone may have helped this pathetic individual "end his own life"?

Radio report earlier said he owned 4 despite the domestic violence convictions.

I need to find that video. Which network, CNN?

Texas had enough info to deny the shooters concealed carry application, but in a CNN video a LEO/FIB representative made the statement:

"Until we can get all the documentation, we will not be able to make a determination if this individual was prohibited from possessing or purchasing firearms."

o_O
....that sounds like a textbook C.Y.A. statement for bureaucratic failure/ incompetence to me.

Yeah, that was the same "LEO Instructor from NY" that said in the same segment that "Also, we have to be careful with civilians taking the law into their own hands". What a pious POS hack.

I'm sorry Mr. NYC LEO... where were you when this was going down in a small 1-Light town in TX? The same place every other LEO in the area was.... NOT THERE.

Imagine that!! I just caught the press conference via Fox where the LEO rep clearly stated that there was no data in the NICS system indicating that the shooter was prohibited from purchasing/owning a firearm.

Yet "violence prevention advocates" insists that all firearm purchases conduct universal background checks....o_O

LEO also stated shooter had three gunshot wounds, one self inflicted. Thus the good guy tagged him twice.

and martha mccallum says she cant believe that the information didnt get shared between agencies - to which mark furhman replied - i can!

why do people have such blind faith in govt? they are human just like everyone else - bound to commit errors from poor judgement, honest mistakes, intentional actions, personal biases or any other number of reasons?

whether its in healthcare, or just getting a big mac combo from mcdonalds - there are tons of mistakes made every day in every area of life. so why would the govt be any different?

Forget the fact that .gov goes to great lengths to hire the most incompetent people known to man...

I would think most of them would not carry there in Gods house in a small town.
I know of a local church where the minister is packing. As well as many of the congregation. They have a security team and they are seated strategically to cover the entrances. It's a God given right so why not honor that right.

The law of unintended consequences...

Guvco screws the pooch and by means of incompetence does not enter the perps info into a data base that would prevent him from purchasing weapons, and what is Guvco's solution??? Give guvco more power to determine if a citizen should be able to buy a gun... brilliant!

Yea cnn, I tried finding it for you but of course Im sure they wouldnt post that unterview. It was Brooke Baldwin

Found it. I need to find a YouTube copy too:

http://www.cnn.com/videos/us/2017/11/06/cousin-of-man-who-shot-gunman-bts-nr.cnn

EDIT: CNN in typical Fake News fashion has edited the above linked video down to 2:00 eliminating over a minute of the interview.

According to this account the shooter actually car jacked another vehicle to escape the area and took off with that person still inside!?! First time I've heard that stated.

Untrue secondhand statement by the interviewee or blatant omission of facts that don't fit the narrative by LEO's?

I would imagine, at least hope, that if it's true, they will abandon said tradition, as well as any other church out there and any other private establishment that may follow that same tradition.

So, local laws and enforcement worked (denied his application for a license) but the Feds screwed up (AF failed to enter his crimes into the database) and the left wants more government involvement? Makes sense to me.

With all this info, plus the fact that the “good guy with a gun” was a former NRA instructor who used his own AR to stop more people from being killed or injured, I wonder how soon MSM will stop reporting on this incident (like they did with the other church attack)?
