I’ll briefly cover my experience from today.
I did a “force on force” event which was not an instructed “class”, it was held by a friend that rented the facility and invited 10-12 people.
We ran 6-7 scenarios that covered things from a “home invasion” to a “stick up” in a diner, the whole thing was very intense and eye opening for most of us.
You find yourself forced to actually go through the motions of the “well thought out plans” of how you think you would handle a situation in real life, I found myself following through with some of those actions, some worked extremely well and “saved my life”, others got me shot in the face.....
If any of you get a chance to do one of these types of events DO IT!! Even if it is an informal gathering of friends, because even though you know you’re not going to get “gun shot” you’ll find yourself rethinking your tactics after you take a few sim rounds to the chest (or arms, legs, elbows, hands) because they sting a bit, take a few rounds to the hands and they flat out hurt, even through shooting gloves! I wore 3 layers of clothing on my upper body and 2 on my lower body and still walked away with a dozen welts, I went from “Rambo” running in with guns blazing to a MUCH more practical approach very quickly, pain has a way of reminding you that most of your ideas about gunfights are, well pretty friggin stupid.
