Fishing Pics ... post your most recent.

Slayed them today in a creek on our hunting property.

I hate to post the pics, coz you guys are probably going to be bugging me for the location, etc. But I'll do it anyway.

They are awesome. My favorite fishing of all time is fishing for tiny Brook Trout in super skinny and remote waters. 2nd is taking a 2wt rod and having fun with some tiny brim...... Full Marks.

I fished Newbern today and upriver. No reds yet but ended up finding a few bluegill beds. I was throwing a frog in some lily pads and had a 10-11' gator come up about 20 yards away. Erie feeling knowing you're not the top of the food chain. This was pretty big bull for this area of ENC.

Had a fishing tournament today at Jordan. We caught several. This one weighed 4 lbs. My partner caught one 4.5 lbs. Between the 7 teams, 8 bass were caught over 4 lbs including one 6.99 lb. 22 lbs won the tournament. Fun day

That’s a serious kayak set up.

going to get better soon. My leather shop is in the garage and so were the kayaks. Not much room for a building and trailer. So we opted for an enclosed trailer as storage and transport. Ordered E track today. Going to build a shelf for the lighter boats. That way I don’t have to unload it to get to mine. Need to tweak the rod holders too. Might get some track to mount hooks for the life jackets too.

Fishing has been a little slow for me in the last week or so, gotta figure out what adjustments I need to make.

First pic is from last week. There's a story that goes along with it but without pics to back it up it's just a story.

Second pic is from today. Fished for a little over 3 hours, changed baits 10-12 times, got one bite.

Got a buddy heading out to Sherman's Wreck today for Spadefish.

I don't know what any of that means, but if he sends me some pics, I'll post them.

Maybe a kegerator in their too! Cold brew after a day of fishing is always nice.

Went early this morning, had a hook in the water at 6;30. Water was dead calm, no wind. 10 minutes later I hooked this one on a Whopper Plopper. I had made a long cast out 30-35 yards and the bait had just landed, I hadn't even started to reel in the slack and he hit. I just started cranking because he was out so far, I was worried I didn't get a good hook set. He jumped 3 times before I got him in. Yeah, it was a lot of fun.

Fished another 4 hours, nothing, not even a nibble.

He said nothing but wind and waves. No fish.

Catching this today made me pretty happy.
Last summer I stocked 2 10" grass carp and 6 or so 4" channel cats. The carp are right around 30" and very active on the surface. This is the first i have seen of any of the cats since I released them.

Caught it on a 4" blugill. Yeah, crappy picture.

Good advice. There at least used to be an Orvis store in Hickory. Will have to check it out.

Call me before you do that. The owner is a good guy, just not the most outgoing and friendly guy out there with new folks. I've been in and out of there for years so I know what to expect. And I'm not sure he does that type of class.

Greensboro does for sure. I’ve had a couple of my kids take it. I may have pocketed the coupons for myself though.

He's basically a one man store inside an outdoor store in Hickory. Not sure if he is even staffed for that stuff. Might be something the larger stores do.

I think the guy that runs the fishing side of Greensboro gets his buddies to come help teach the class. Pre COVID he was doing a lot of advanced fly tying classes which I enjoyed going to , but none of that has started back.

Thanks!

My wife sent me and the guys in my family on a 4 hour Spanish mackerel hunt on Saturday. We were plagued by lizard fish at first, but still managed to pull in 26 fish.

I think he does some limited classes but you really have to drag the information out of him as he’s not the most personable guy. The fly shop in Boone does classes for both fishing and fly tying.

over the last couple hours i caught 2 stingrays and the wifey caught an eel

oh and an alligator gar????? in our crab trap

all were caught, released and swam away.

Finally got the boat out to test the pedal drive. Apparently my boat is not supposed to work with one. Which I found out after winning this on eBay. Seems to work pretty well.

caught a few white base, couple sunfish, and one smallmouth. The smallie caught me off guard but we are right where the river runs into the lake.
