Fishing Pics ... post your most recent.

6 even for the big girl. Water temp was 69 and change. Fallen timber in about 6 feet of water. Pitching a Zero Gravity jig in Bluegill with a Missile Baits "Craw Father" trailer. Two 4 pounders on Chatterbait JackHammer in Green/White with a Zaku Clear/Green trailer.

69 degrees is about perfect out there. Nice.

Falls lake on Monday, 0lbs and a mild sunburn.

Muddy water couldn't see anything. Not sure if the bass couldn't see my lure or I suck at this. Probably the latter
Just remember - "A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work"

I said that all day yesterday at work. Everyone joking I wasted a day not catching anything. I told them it was better than drawing triangles all day (I'm a truss designer)

As a buddy and I used to say growing up:

"The fishin's always good. You may not catch anything, but the fishin's always good."

Well, I didn’t get skunked. Lol. Aggressive little guy in the cool water.

Forgive me for adding my answer here. I have been going to Cape Lookout for a Long time now. You can. You can rent one of the few cabins, pitch a tent [HA!] or sleep in your vehicle. It's one of the few places that still feels unpopulated on the shore at times. I'm in the Core Banks Surf Fishing club and they annually make a volunteer work trip to repair and maintain the cabins and an annual fun/club trip. Very, very good people. Salt of the earth and some super experienced and knowledgeable fisherman. Another great club is DIFF (Davis Island Fishing Foundation). They do the same volunteer work on the island and have some scary good dudes. Anyone can hit me up via PM for details.

Do you get to sleep out there on the beach?
no we had a national park service cabin. Saw lots of tents blown in by the winds. I did the beach camping when younger but now I want to get out of the sand for a bit. It gets everywhere. The cabin had 2 bunks, shower/head, gas stove/oven, sink, and screened in porch. No electricity, but a singe propane lantern lit it up very well, but we were usually out by 930pm anyways. They have different sizes for different groups.

How do you get the helicopter to stay on your fishing line?

Well, told the wife I was fishing in a pond behind work. She didn't believe me so I snapped that pic with Carolina AirCare in the background coming in for a landing.

@Lil D caught her first fish in her new kayak today. She actually caught quite a few. I enjoyed watching her and fishing with her

The Neuse River south of Falls Lake Dam has been flowing low all week, cool temps, but still a little muddy. The river’s been higher than normal for weeks, so there are nice holes upriver chock full of hungry pre- and post-spawn fish.

Throwing a #10 black wooly bugger produced this weekend. Lots of crappie showed up to play.

Went to McDowell Park / Lake Wylie today for a little over 3 hours, it's close to home for me. Had an awesome day, my best ever fishing. Caught 6 bass, nothing else. I've had days where I've caught more fish but nothing this size. When I fish I go after whatever is in the water, I don't discriminate, which is why I'm a little surprised with the results today.

In the background of the first pic you can see where my hat ended up after it blew off while I was reeling in the fish. No way I was going to take one hand off the rod.

Caught 2 on a watermelon colored plastic worm using my dad's old Mitchell 300 on a medium action rod from about 55 years ago. Still working well and catching fish. Caught the other 4 on a ultra light action rod using 4 lb line with a Nikko Hellgrammite for bait. That was exciting.

Big fish of the trip caught by my youngest son. Lake Guntersville, Alabama Went to see my buddy and fished a couple of lakes the 1st weekend of April. This fish was 4 pounds.

Guntersville is a bucket list trip for me. I’ve started selling my wife on a small Alabama lake place for retirement. Just close enough to get to West Jeff in the hot summer time.

We fished Jordan lake that is down close to his house, closer to Montgomery. I had a hard time fishing in 35 feet of water when I could just about reach the bank with the pole.

You could be 15 yards off the bank and in water anywhere from 3 feet to 50 feet. Just different for me. Guntersville was pretty. We're going to get back down there again for a different lake.

I hear that. When I moved to CA from the Northeast fishing deep and slow was a tough adjustment. I got better, but I won’t say I ever got good. I did however learn how to use the needle and release an air bladder instead of killing them when pulling them from the depths. I still prefer more shallow water angling.
