Gas lines

I'm glad they made a comeback. We'd been trying the last 4 years to Make America Great Again and with Biden, we've succeeded. 1970's-80' Great!
They need to mandate odd and even plate refuel days, gotta be nostalgic.

Or are they bagging a full tank station? with the hopes that supply takes longer to come back, thus creating a reserve to open up with inflated price? Not gouging price, but higher?

Topped the tank off, 9 gals $27.
I work in Aiken, SC during the week, so I will not need fuel until I come back next Sunday.
Hopefully, this will be over by then.

Pulled right up to the non-ethanol pump and topped the bike off while I was out today. A long line for the regular pumps.

Our son can't find gas for the work truck. I have a few gallons for the lawn mower and he can siphon from his 2nd vehicle to get him by I guess. This reminds me of the toilet paper shortage.

I actually needed gas this morning, so I drove to the station I usually use. No lines. But the only grade they had was Premium at $3.39 a gallon, so I went back home. A few hours later my daughter texted me that the same station had just got a delivery, so I drove over again. This time they had all three grades, same prices as yesterday, and a "line" of three vehicles at each pump. I think I have enough gas to last me for a few days. I'm old enough to remember the lines during the oil embargo... I survived that, I can probably survive this.

At least thereā€™s no gouging. šŸ¤¬

So glad you posted this....I gotta question....on a pump with different grades and all are dispensed through One nozzle, is the gas coming from 3 different tanks OR is the gas treated internally to get the octane rating posted???
I just returned from Murder Beach for a Doc's appointment and watched a tanker fill up a Lowe's station. It "looked" like it all went in one place and yet all 3 grades were available after he filled the tank???
Always been curious about this and I'm certain there is somebody on here with a plausible answer???
Also, even IF it came from 3 different places isn't there residual fuel left from the previous grade pumped???

Sheetz in HP. Stupid me, I filled up and then noticed the always sky high place across the street was WAY cheaper.

Thereā€˜s only one tank and it dispenses the same product thru all nozzles. My car seems to run better when it knows I paid $4 per gallon. šŸ¤“

Keep a close eye on your vehicles, I drove in to work with a little over 1/4 tank, start to drive out after work to find the light on and needle resting below the the bottom of "E"

No I didn't lock the door, there's enough eyes and traffic from our business I haven't done so in years during daylight. May have avoided a destroyed gas lid cover anyway...

Just left a station in Midway - had regular, no premium (or midgrade, of course)

Why out of premium? I figure most would want/use regular, was surprised they ran out of premium so soon.

Another station in Midway bagged up already.

Might not keep nearly as much premium on hand.

There are 2 different tanks. 89 is mixed in-pump. 87 and 93 are piped from the tank to the pump.
There is a switching valve inside. There may be 1/2 gallon (if that) from the previous sale that is in the hose.

If none were available before he dropped and 3 were available after. He had to have dropped 87 and 93.

Well they arenā€™t totally stupid. The current working theory that Iā€™ve seen is they factor a 3% fudge factor. Trump broke that when he won so they had other resources in place to thwart him in 2020. Mr. Robinson obviously broke that 3 % too. But they donā€™t have the resources to cheap every way everywhere. P,us if every Democrat won their race even the dimmest amongst us might begib to suspect a rigged game. They have to throw us a bone occasionally. And a Lt. Gov is a pretty weak position. Nothing but a small stepping stone to get your name out,

Or at least all that crap is my theory. But I have been wrong once before. šŸ˜†

OK this is a thread hijack...

In NC, R's won for President, Senator, Lt Gov. Picked up seats in the state House and lost only one in the state Senate. There were six statewide judge races, R's won all six. Gained in the Council of State roles (Secretary of Whatever, etc). But Dan Forest lost the Governorship by five points. That means a lot of NC voters checked Republicans most of the way down but voted against Forest. I voted for him, even went to one of his fund raisers, have met him a couple of times. The night belonged to Republicans, Cooper was vulnerable, but Dan Forest was a bad candidate that ran a bad race.

So all the Rā€™s and R swinging Dems that voted for all the other Rā€™s really cared about Forestā€™s poor campaign skills after dealing with Cooper for all of 2022? Maybe? Or maybe not.

From now on, Iā€™m hanging around the pump after filling up on premium. If the next customer wants regular, theyā€™re gonna hafta pay me the difference between those two grades, times 1/2 gallon!!!! šŸ¤“

Been waiting to hear about things like this. It's Tuesday and a lot of stations are out. I figure by end of week things could get ugly and we have another week or even two to endure. Re-mapping our daily patterns to stretch the gas, specifically factorig in kids and school.

Stay vigilant. There will be hungry wolves out there looking for prey and they are bolder than ever.

I told my wife to park her truck in the back yard. Not necessarily to avoid fuel theft, but because I make the rules in this house and she needs to remember that.

They won't mess with your gas cap. They will just go underneath and knock a hole in your tank.
