Gas lines

I was working a part-time job last night and on my way home I counted five stations with no gas. The station in the pic was the last one on my way home. When I went to work this morning, they were out, too. By the point I got this picture, I had already passed about 20 cars on the side of the road.

Wonder if there are electric car rentals and if so are there any available?

Sheetz near my home had paper signs up at the pump they were out of fuel due to the 'shortage'. Guess the WH Spox is wrong.
Anyway folks were pumping 87 gas. Manager said the gas will run out soon. I got 10 gal that I needed.

We have one in our garage at the mountain place. Will allow access to CFF members in exchange for 9mm, 45 ACP or good bourbon. šŸ˜
Heck yeah! I'll make the same offer. I have one in the garage and another one outside using the mobile charger.

I filled out a gouging report last night. Will be interesting to see whether I hear anything back.

I was getting diesel so the hyperinflated gas price didn't phase me beyond "damn!". Both the car and truck use diesel; one gallon moves the truck about 12 miles, one gallon moves the car about 45 miles.

This is just Tesla branded super chargers right now and not the 3rd party types.
While I appreciate that they're not as scarce as they used to be...any idea how many hundreds or thousands of individual gas pumps are within 50 miles of Asheville, Hickory and Greenville compared to 36 superchargers?

I'm not making that case. I'm referencing that their isnt a wait at these charging stations and most EV owners have the ability to charge at home.

Fair enough, but I think that was Fieldgrade's case you were replying to. I may have read his intent incorrectly. As Tesla owner I do have other questions though...the Sheets in Hickory always has a few Teslas at the chargers. Are these just owners on road trips greater than 200 miles so they have no choice but to stop? I feel like the average Tesla owner would think their time is valuable so I can't imagine stopping unless you had to.

For daily commutes and charging at home, I love the idea of an electric car. However, I can't think of any scenario I would want to sit at Sheetz for 15, 30 or 60 minutes to top up unless I had no choice on a trip greater than the vehicles range.

You probably won't get this anywhere else on the internet because people are afraid to admit when they're wrong but you're right. I misread @fieldgrade point

I can also may my own fuel at home.....but its highly frowned upon
I actually looked at the process of making e85 at home for a cornfed car I was running. There is a lot that goes into the permission of making it at home.

Serious question: How long does a full charge (on-the-road at a "charging station") take and what do you do while charging? Also, last time I looked (prob 2016) a $120k Tesla wouldn't make it from Charlotte to Raleigh and back on one charge. Has that improves significantly? I can see owning an EV for a predictable commute. My schedule is very unpredictable so I'm a skeptic. I also remember one of the last time a "mandatory evacuation" was ordered in California ahead of advancing wildfires, the area evacuating had already been without power for several days because of "precautionary power shutdowns". it seems to me, many of those EV owners may have been caught with an inadequate charge.

Max legal is 8800 and 7500 ulsd.

If they lift regs the overfill protection can be bypassed and carry 9900

The emergency order that came out yesterday (or monday) specified all sorts of regs that could be ignored. Weight limits, driver hour limits, etc.

If I'm not mistaken the permit is free and it's good for 10k gallons per year.

3.00 gallon at Gerat Stops on Wendover this afternoon

Overfill regs are WAY different than weight limits.
