I hadnt realized how bad the gouging had gotten until yesterday

Could the shortage be shortened in duration by some self control, absolutely.

The shortage will not get any shorter if all the available products are purchased. Whether one guy buys everything or hundreds of people buy one thing, if all the things are sold before stocks can be replenished, there is a shortage.

The shortage will continue until EVERYONE stops buying for a while

Pricing something at a level that is intended to ensure it remains in stock and available until they can get more is not price gouging. I'd rather the ammo be available at a higher price than always sold out.

Pricing lower than demand only encourages the scalpers who don't work and can spend their mornings waiting in line at Academy.

I have plenty of ammo in all calibers ,plenty of 22's .Just remarking on company's price gouging. Your telling me e how much CCI is charging for it proves that companys like PSA are price gouging

That "proves" no such thing.

CCI and PSA are not in the same line of business.

CCI manufactures ammunition and sells it wholesale to other businesses...as well as sells it online themselves. PSA is a firearms retailer, not a firearms manufacturer or ammo manufacturer. PSA is not obligated to sell ammunition at the same price that CCI asks for it online.

Saying this is so would mean that no matter where CCI ammunition is sold, it must all be the same. So the local gun shops MUST sell it for the same price as everybody else...Walmart, CCI, PSA, gun ranges, etc.

I was talking about the extremely high price between what CCI SELLS IT FOR and WHAT PSA SELLS IT FOR. OVER 4 times the cost $10 compared to $39.95 so yes it's gouging if I've ever seen it

So charge enough so that somebody is actually paying for three. That way you can have two still on the shelf paid for, incase they have to sit awhile.

😒

Are we still arguing this malarkey?

I can promise, with near absolute certainty that if someone files a complaint with our leftist state government, run by leftist Cooper, with leftist authoritarian Stein at the helm of DOJ that the complaint will likely never be heard.

They are probably glad ammo costs as much as it does.

There is a lot of BS mixed in with this “its all freedom”.
People are using the “pandemic” to bleed everyone and everything.

As far as I know, ammo is not now, and likely never will be classified as a commodity by those who decide what is and what ain’t a necessity for human survival in an emergency, which is how price gouging is defined by those who are the “deciders".

We all know that we do in fact need it to protect ourselves, but who here didn’t already have that tucked away at the beginning of all this, for such a time as this?

If those in the ammo business can capitalize off of society’s repeated and insatiable penchant for hoarding anything and everything, I say let ‘em make a buck.

I haven’t bought any since spring 2020, I don’t reload, and I have more than when this all started, and never paid more than $.30 a round for 9mm.

If anybody got caught with their pants down, I just can’t get worked up about it.

I don't care what PSA sells it for, they're a retailer. They can sell at whatever price they wish, unless they're under some sort of legally binding contract with CCI otherwise.

You and I are free to take our money elsewhere if we're not happy with that. Meanwhile, we can comfort ourselves in the knowledge that, should we really NEED a box of CCI ammo, we know exactly where we can go to get a box., because they'll be very likely to at least HAVE some in stock...instead of it all selling out and going to someone ELSE out there who will be perfectly happy to flip it.

If you have a pile of CCI ammo (or any other ammo), you're free to place whatever price tag on it you wish. It's YOUR private property and you can do what you wish with it. The fact that I may think it's somehow "unfair" or "gouging" is totally out to lunch.

Gouging or not I think back on what I was told by my father who was in the Navy in WW2. HE SAID WASTE NOT WANT NOT and A FOOL AND HIS MONEY ARE SOON PARTED. That is all I have to say about it except some fools must have a lot of money to waste that I do.....

Then don't be the "fool" who is parted from his money.

Fools are exceptionally notorious for parting with money over things they don't NEED. Do you NEED a pile of CCI ammo? Or do you just WANT to be able to buy any amount you desire at whatever YOU believe to be a "fair" price?

My Dad (Army, South Pacific, WWII) left me with a number of wise sayings, too. One of them was "There's a difference between a 'want' and a 'need'. The sooner you figure this out, the better off you'll be."

Didn’t mean to just limit it to ammo. It’s everything. To many evil, corrupt entities in America for it to ever be legit. Too much greed and f the other guy to ever be something to strive for.

Too many George Soros’, Joe and Hunter Biden’s, crooked politicians, greedy corporations and the like. In a perfect environment it might work but power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

but hey, we all need to hang on to something. 😉

How often does the CCI page have .22 ammo ??
Almost every morning.

Interestingly (at least to me!) the price CCI sells it for , is what I bought some for from Walmart about a month ago.

Guess I have a fortune then. The other side is 9 mm, 40 S&W, 357 sig, 38 special, IMG_20210506_160459800.jpgIMG_20160617_174915251.jpgall 22 is in ammo cansIMG_20210416_130325068.jpgIMG_20210416_130423666.jpgIMG_20210416_130656560.jpgIMG_20210416_130325068.jpgIMG_20210416_125552266.jpgIMG_20200219_134129964.jpg

I’d like to give a flowery decent along the lines of something @tanstaafl72555 would but I just lack the patience.
I don’t know who this guy is but I’m sure he’s in the know, just look at that scruffy beard, right, it screams “I know things”.

If he thinks there is no gouging going on then he is living in some other country than the US of A.
There is no such thing as gouging. The price is what the market will bare. High prices are a good thing in a crises; it makes goods available to those that need it, not those that want it.

Some just can never get this simple fact through their heads. The ammo is out there. The price is high because demand is high. When demand falls, the price will follow. It may never return to the “glory days”, because there are millions of new gun owners who will keep the demand higher than it was previously.

Prices are what prices are.

I just want to know who the jackleg is who's paying these high ammo prices right now, so I can point and laugh.
You don't have to look far to point and laugh at the jacklegs. Just go to our own classified section. It's full of them. 🤣
