Need a cursed SCIFI AR pistol grip.

You say that now but I do believe my back problems center around not having enough of one.
Anyone doing a cursed Glock project?
Actually, maybe. I have a superfluous P80 build since I got rid of the chassis/brace and was considering doing a "junk town" restyling of it.

ooh, i could thread my 16" barrel and put a cookie cutter on it, then drop the whole thing in some cheezy chassis.

Probably a good thing I didn't see this before I started!

There was an article years ago about a sub 5lb ar. Guy went crazy with a drill press. Big holes in the buffer tub upper and lower and ran a short carbon fiber handguard. There's still time to make it ridiculous.

Yeah I like this stock a lot more on this build, I am happy in my pants.

Now I can start work on the completely unnecessary lighting rig. It needs to glow like a Fedboi.

And the PDW stock will only be lonely while I wait for my first stamp....

When I first saw this thread I thought “what a waste of time, why would you do this?!?” but now I get excited to see more every time I see a new post!
Thanks! It actually feels really good, even switching between the scope and the 45 degree dot sight. I had to get a Holosun 407 and a better mount, the Romeo Zero was too small and close.

Practical AND goofy Spessgun.

That was the original config.

I should go back to that look. Bonus, since it is an SBR I can get people wondering if it’s registered or not! :D
It's very spec ops stormtrooper.

You just gave me a great/terrible idea. If I make a couple of little holes in the magwell and have bright leds shine through them into the lower, the mag should light up when you insert it.

I can stick the lights and guts in a project box (like the small pile I have in my stash of parts) and figure out a mounting solution.......

Quick cobbled together EL wire wrap for the barrel.

IMG_20230302_224047385.jpg

Basically taped in place just to see what it looked like, but as always, reliable ol' EL wire glow is solid. I'll have to fabricate a piece I can slide the whole thing on and off quickly. I may also get a longer chunk of wire and go longer, but it looks nice and balanced like that IMO.

i very much wanted to do a hera build like that (minus the glow?). A guy i knew was selling off his hera kit and he refused to sell it to me because he said he knew for a fact i'd hate the feel of it and he would rather i be mad at him for not selling it to me and still have my money than for me to be mad at him for selling it to me and be out the cash.
I'm still not sure i like that line of thinking, but he makes a good point.

22 AR mags are excessively fat and there's probably a lot of room to work with. You should get a printed one with a row of leds hooked to momentary on switches. as the follower moves up the body, they turn on/off. have an override button to flip them all on/off too.

Otherwise, a lip around where it meets the magwell that can push down on a spring loaded button when it goes in sounds fun.

You're welcome to fondle this one. I'm shocked how nice it feels and how easily I can transition to the canted red dot despite the goofy foregrip and thumbhole stock.

It's a bit Chinesium feeling in terms of polymer but it'll do pig, it'll do.

Yeah, I got the Black Dog welded mags which means opening them up would be a total mess.

I'm either going to drill some holes in the magwell and shine lights inside or build addon bumpers with lights inside for the mag bases.

I'm leaning towards the magwell holes right now, because I'd only have to make one and it's a retarded idea... So totally my sort of thing.

I want it but magic Hebrew parts are more shekels than I have, for I am a Poor. Shame, because it's bloody perfect, but $140 for a grip isn't in the budget.
Start a gofundme. I got 10 on seeing this monstrosity come to life 😂

So, I built a hitech entangled fibre corrugated board magazine well simulator (yes, cardboard) and stuck a couple of leds through the wall and stuck a mag in it to see how well it illuminates.

IMG_20230303_205251801.jpg

The camera accentuates the degree of light, but near the magwell it's pretty good.

Doesn't transmit well to the bottom, but that would be a bunch more fuss.

Next I need to make some sort of cardboard and led bumper and try from the bottom.

too square where your thumb wraps around the grip. not comfortable for me. guy at the shop said he had pretty much the same problem and ground down his to make it feel better.
Felt fine to me, but I like blocky AK grips, so....

OK, so the lights are in, albeit slightly jank. That's the best I can light the mag without drilling holes in the magwell. I'm still debating doing that lol

Got that Fallout plasma vibe. And the green matches the laser sight and angled dot colour because of course it does.

While I do enjoy a good old fashioned knuckle grip:

What you need is the "Grip Armour" system: https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2018/11/02/blue-rock-armour-grip-armour/

Those knuckle grips hurt me, but the pain feels good

Now all you need is unnecessary bullpup. Anyone here good at PS?
