What blade are you carrying today?

Swiss Army Tinker, decided to get something a bit more harmless looking for work than my usual assisted opening style.

Unfortunately, Old Timers haven't been made with carbon steel blades for over two decades now.

I had a three bladed Old Timer that I an uncle gave me for a graduation gift. I had to give it up at boot camp because nobody told me I couldn't bring a knife and I had been carrying a pocket knife every day since my early days in grade school.

I got another one afterwards...lost it, after a couple years. Then all the new ones came with stainless steel blades...which won't take and keep an edge worth a crap.

I found several with carbon steel blades on ebay a few years back and bought the lot of them. They're stashed somewhere (beats me where, but I have them) and one of them is in a pocket of my suitcase.

Awesome size and shape to the blades for a pocket knife. Not too large, not too small. And they take a razer edge very well.

Love this old one. Came from my dad. Aint it amazing we carried pocket knives to school and
no one ever got stabbed .

This is what I have been carrying recently:

It's A Zero Tolerance 0308BLKTS and the blade is CPM 20CV.

Now, being old and retarded I do not work it as hard as I used to but I've been very impressed the way this thing takes, and holds an edge. I normally don't like this type lock system but this looks sturdy enough to try it. The clips too small for me but it changes and the pivot system is adjustable ball bearings. Kinda pricey too!

Yea no problem with that. ZT has a good rep with heat treat and S35VN is a great steel.

I’d just be wary of buying a ZT from Amazon, fakes abound.
Knife blade material is impossible to prove. Don’t think I’ll go Amazon. Think I’ll email thrillhill and see if he sells these.

@BlackGun , several of us bought I think the same one recently from this thread, $11 cheaper than your Amazon link

Over the years I have picked up a few old Buck 110's and here lately, I've been carrying one. I have accumulated a few and needed a sheath for one. I just happened to try a magazine carrier for a 1911 and, Eureka!, it works perfectly. It's a horizontal mag carrier made by Two Fools Leather Goods.

I just have a pocket full of loose razor blades. Throw it on the ground when I'm done and pick out a fresh one everytime. Had to start wearing shoes in the house though

^ can't get multi quote to work.

I took a first production 533bk-2 and swapped spacers and thumb studs with the 533 orange mini bugout.

I really want one of these, but only in satin blade and black handle.

I guess I could RIT dye the orange, but I'd rather just buy like I want.

Come to think of it, I'm not sure the regular bugout came in satin and black, so I may be waiting awhile.

Benchmade will eventually add the mini bugout to the custom knife builder. The fullsize bugout is customizable now.

You could pick up the mini bugout 533 and 533bk-2 and swap parts to make a satin blade with black scales, with orange spacers and stud.
Then sell off the orange scales and black blade with black hardware knife.

If you don't want to go to all that trouble, send me a PM.

Carbon Fiber mini Bugout. Bought the one with orange scales and hardware (was on sale + Bass Pro Bucks) and swapped for a set of CF scales from BHQ.

I’ve been looking at this one for awhile. The orange wasn’t really blowing my skirt up so I was waiting on a black/satin model to come out. I couldn’t take it anymore and bought this one with the intention of swapping the scales for G10 or CF.

I’m going to leave as is for a few weeks, maybe the orange will grow on me or I guess I could RIT dye it.

The knife is a wonderful size. I’m digging it so far.

What model is this? I dig the "mini" versions of BM stuff, the 3" blade is just about right for a tool and not too intimidating if the sheep see it.
