Let's see your home gym

Home (garage) gym consists of Powerblock dumbbells and an adjustable bench, which ends up being an incredibly versatile setup for how little equipment it is. Our apt. complex has a decent gym as well. These days I mainly train in MMA so spend far less time with weights.

Forgot about this thread. Here’s my contribution. 400 square feet of fun!

Can you provide a quick review of your Titan SSB? - I'm looking into either that one or the EFS SS Yoke; typically I'll always go for quality but I hear the Titan is effectively the same thing for half the price. Do you concur?

Also considered not getting an SSB and plopping down $1k on a belt squat. IDK.

I would agree with that assessment. It isn't the fanciest out there, and if I had more cash at the time I probably would have gone with the Elite FTS bar. But, for the money, I don't think you can beat it. It's plenty comfortable and feels stable on the back. I think it weighs in at 61 lbs.

Coop at Garage Gym Reviews also gave it good marks, which is why I ended up getting it.

Waiting on the rest of my equipment to get here. This will work for a couple of days until then.

Any thoughts on using some type of polyurethane sealant on this platform? I got this from a CF gym that was selling it; cost about half of what building a new one would be with current lumber prices. Slightly worried about the VA humidity on the base.

Man, training plates are so worth the money.
Ya, this is my first go with them. - The stuff in the picture is stuff I had sent to a buddy's before I moved here. The rest of my equipment I've had should be here soon. - I was debating between these and Hi Temp's; obviously two different styles. I figured Hi Temps and crumb in general is easier to find on the used market should I need something I can use on the bare asphalt outside. I have some standard steel 45's, and the iron change plates in the front of the platform are from Elite FTS. They're basically the same as the Kabuki iron. Payed way too much for it but I needed some new change plates.

I'm going to pickup some band pegs from Titan to add to the platform. - Downside to everything is training in a garage again; I had a basement previously and it was wicked nice during the winter and stayed cool in the summer.

Yeah I wouldn't use those training plates on asphalt.

You change plates at still better than my cheapie CAP change plates. 🥴

I messagedy buddy in Springfield VA asking if he did anything to his platform for the humidity. I'll let you know what he says.

Cool! Thanks. I'm just down the road from him.

We've moved into a rental for a little while while and this is how we have our stuff set up so far. My wife, son, and I all go to a trainer at his gym three days a week where we do circuits on Nautilus machines then focused muscle groups.
At home stuff is for off days. I need to spend more time on the Schwinn Airdyne and decline ab bench! None of us are super heavy lifters so this has been good so far.

Are thsoe stall mats? If so, is it directly on the floor, or do you have plywood in between? How do you keep them from sliding around?
Stall mats on concrete. The entire floor is done that way so they don’t have any room to slide around.

Nice! I've got a SSB on the way!!!!!
Still on my short-list. Waiting for a shipping deal or BF discount.

I picked up the EFS American Cambered bar and was a little disappointed they sent me one without a sticker/decal. I contacted the CS and they made up some BS about how they quit putting stickers on to ship them quicker, which I know is not true as I've talked to a few guys that have gotten them recently as well and they've all got them on their bars. I asked to be sent a sticker and they said they didn't have any.

I know it's just a sticker...but it's kind of the principle of it.

A sticker is good for 25# on ur total!!!!!

I'm a fan of Texas power bars. Just as good as Rogue but the knurling is even more aggressive. They'll break skin on my sumo pulls when the Ohios won't. For a home gym it's gonna last just fine for less money.

I also like them because they either replicate the rogue ohio power bar used in competition for me or other leagues that use the texas squat bar. They can take a beating or more weight than I'll even handle. I've even witness knuckleheads at our gym using the good texas bars for stupid heavy rack pulls instead the junky rack pull bars that are literally labeled "rack pull bars."

Now a bar I LOVE is the rogue deadlift bar. That sucker lets me pull about 10% more on a good day. I never train with it, though. I just love it when whatever league I compete in uses it so I can surprise myself or get some token lifts if I spent all my energy on squats
That's nice .....

I have a bench, some adjustable dumbbells, a curl bar, a barbell, some weights, and a dip/pullup tower. My priority is peak strength. What should I get next for my home gym?
My vote is a rack and sandbag...and obviously some sand.

I looked up squat racks. I have one of these that I use for bench press etc. If I pull it out from the wall and put the hooks/spotter arms in the other side, could I squat with it? I have very limited room for a separate new cage at the moment.

Any thoughts on dip belts? Punching bags?
Looks like it'd be pretty hard to get under the bar with that cross brace if it's even tall enough.

You can do a lot with a landmine bang for the buck wise.

Being cheap I just use a piece of chain and carabineer for dips and weighted pull ups.

It would likely be too short, IDK the overall height. I'd also worry somewhat about stability.

Have you looked into something like a foldback wall mount rack? - https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-rigs-racks/wallmounts
Dip belts and bags are great - You could do one of those water bags; a lot of people buy the fillable buoys that are far cheaper and basically the same thing.

We are in the middle of moving and had to take down our rack and basically have about and 8x8 workout space in the garage. I bought this set off ebay for 58 bucks shipped. As always you get what you pay for but it has allowed me to stay in maintenance mode at least.
