Meh, drunk driving piece of crap is dead. A shame he couldn't have crashed into a van full of "protestors" first.
Vest ... 8 lbs
Full sized loaded side arm ... 2.5 lbs
Backup firearm (many LEO’s carry a 2nd smaller handgun) ... 1.5 lbs
Extra fully loaded mags ... 2 lbs
Taser ... 2lbs
Pepper Spray ... 0.5lbs
Collapse baton ... 1 lb
Handcuffs (2 pair) ... 1.5 lbs
Radio & mic ... 3 lbs
Flashlight ... 0.5 lbs
Body Cam ... 1.5 lbs
Cellphone ... 0.5 lbs
Sam Brown duty belt with holster and gear pouches (that belt empty weighs more than you think) ... 5 lbs
It is not 40lbs but that stuff ain’t light either ... that’s at least 29.5 lbs and I’m not counting other miscellaneous gear like first aid gear, PPE, keys, etc. Some wear steel toed shoes/boots which are a 1 lb or so heavier than regular Nike’s. Think about it from a movement standpoint ... over 20 lbs is hanging around your waist and another 8 lbs top heavy ... it is not a picnic for a 12 hour shift (getting in and out of a vehicle ... driving ... etc) much less trying to sprint with gear bouncing and you trying to adjust your balance. At the end of a shift your kidneys and back ache ...
But that was your job, don't count on any sympathy from me.I assure you I know a thing or 2 about wearing gear.........

The question was, why can't they run and catch the guy. That's why the gear weight questions came up. And I bet you didn't chase down any 27 year olds in tshirts and Nikes with 90 extra lbs on you either? Just like you probably wouldn't have been able to outrun them with 40 extra lbs on.First off, I think you are seriously overestimating your weights on the items, but whatever, we can go back an forth on that all day and it it doesn’t really matter...next, you’re not eliciting any sympathy out of me with all your talk about how heavy their gear is and sitting in the car.......they carry “heavy(ish)” shit, I get it, it’s also their job......go to the damn gym and make sure you can do your perform when you need to....
One day, before I stepped off on a mission to raid a insurgent compound in Fallujah, out of curiosity I stepped on a scale before and after knitting up.... I was right about 90lbs with kit and weapons. I assure you I know a thing or 2 about wearing gear.........
The video I saw (which it what the officer saw) was a guy sleeping in a car parked in a parking spot at which point the police officer wakes him up and it is determined he is likely drunk... that’s From officers body cam.He was sitting in traffic, engine running, car in gear, passed out at the wheel and you think this wasn't a DWI?
Behind the wheel and running = DUI in NC
That was the second time they woke him up after they had him move his car from the drive thru lane to a parking space. The video I saw (which it what the officer saw) was a guy sleeping in a car parked in a parking spot at which point the police officer wakes him up and it is determined he is likely drunk... that’s From officers body cam.
Other than there being a difference between staying in your driveway and going out on public roads inebriated, I agree. If Im in my car in my driveway listening to music drunk I can get a DUI?

there’s times where I’ll be out and my wife is the one planning to drive back but I’ll go hop In The car to take or make a call etc. I often turn on the car if extreme temperatures (winter or summer). If I got arrested for DUI. I’d probably try fighting that A-hole too. But I wouldn’t expect y’all to riot if I get shot (not that I think I should be shot in a man-to-man quarre w/ 2 on 1).
I’m not defending this dude or the police. From video it appears at the point which shots were fired it could potentially be justified. I just wonder if it really needed to be escalated to an arrest. And when you about to f$&k up someone’s life, it shouldn’t be surprising when they resist.
most police honestly make the craft of cuffing look almost magical. These guys clearly have not mastered that craft. Remember the guy who bashed in door with flying drop kick to that psycho who was about to shoot the female cop with her own gun? THAT guy knew how to handle his $h!&.
Sit in the passenger seat while the car is running.

I beg to differ, 4 Jay Bee Cees is worth much more than my life.On a side note, 2 weeks ago a man was shot and killed at the Wendy’s drive thru in Dunn. Moral to the story? Don’t go through Wendy’s drive thru’s. The 4 for 4 isn’t worth your life unless your hungry and low on cash.
I beg to differ, 4 Jay Bee Cees is worth much more than my life.
add onion and you got my dang order.I beg to differ, 4 Jay Bee Cees is worth much more than my life.
Was the guy drunk enough that he thought he had a gun instead of a taser? Who uses a taser at that distance?
Lots of questions...
Anyone that's going to go hands on with two armed cops, and takes a weapon from one of them, is most certainly a threat to everyone
Not to the degree that they should be shot no. He didn't take a firearm and the taser is non lethal. That cop is going to prison.
Stupid games....Not to the degree that they should be shot no. He didn't take a firearm and the taser is non lethal. That cop is going to prison. Again, they guy was driving drunk and resisting arrest, he needs to go to jail not the cemetery.
